AOD-9604 is a synthetic analog of the C-terminal fragment (residues 177–191) of human growth hormone, with an added N-terminal tyrosine. Unlike full-length GH it does not engage the GH receptor and produces no IGF-1-mediated effects. In animal models it has been studied for effects on β3-adrenergic signaling and lipolysis in adipose tissue. Its small size and lack of GH-receptor activity make it useful for isolating GH's lipolytic effects from its mitogenic ones.
