Selank is a synthetic heptapeptide combining the tuftsin fragment Thr-Lys-Pro-Arg with a Pro-Gly-Pro tail. The tail is the point of the design: it resists peptidase cleavage, extending stability relative to tuftsin alone. Published work associates it with GABAergic signalling and with changes in monoamine turnover, and reports effects on BDNF expression in animal models. It is studied alongside Semax, which shares the Pro-Gly-Pro stabilising strategy applied to a different parent fragment.
